Each patient will have different goals in mind when starting care, however correcting a problem may take some time.
Hey everybody, Dr. Colin here!
Today we’re going to talk about something that comes up with our patients on occasion. It’s the question; “why does it take so many adjustments?” What a great question!
If you remember back to the doctor’s report where we sat down and went over your x-rays. I showed you to shifts and mis-alignments in your spine and explained that those shifts have taken years and years to develop. You may have had symptoms like headaches and neck pain or low back pain etc. that showed up a month ago. However, the underlying causes of those problems have been there for years before that.
The frequency of the adjustments are higher in the beginning and then once the body starts to hold the adjustment longer, we decrease the frequency down until we move into more of a maintenance program for your spine.
Think about braces as an analogy. I had braces when I was younger and when I went to the orthodontist, he would tighten the braces on each visit. Each visit built of the last, and slowly the braces would straighten my teeth more and more and eventually we got the result that we wanted. It’s very similar with the spine. It takes time and each adjustment will build momentum.
Have a great day and we’ll see you on the video.
